Truck falls through Lake Alexander, man
arrested
Monday, January 2, 2012
Lincoln County deputies helped remove a truck that had fallen
through the ice on Lake Alexander, which lead to another driver being arrested.
The Sheriff's office was notified that the truck had broken
through the ice in the area of Rock Island at just after 1:00pm on Friday. The rec deputy went to the area and found the truck submerged
in the water. The driver told the deputy he drove over thin ice and broke
through but was able to get out safely. The truck was removed later that
evening and the hole and thin ice were marked by
orange barrels.
While the Rec. Deputy was investigating this incident, a man man drove through the area where they were working several
times. The deputy stopped the man to warn him of the thin ice. As the deputy
was speaking to the 55 year old Merrill man, he noticed the odor of intoxicants
and asked the driver to perform a field sobriety test. As a result he was taken
in on a 4th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked
into the Lincoln County Jail before being released to a responsible party.
