School District of Tomahawk conducts drug search

Friday, October 9, 2009

On Thursday morning the School District of Tomahawk, in cooperation with the Tomahawk Police Department, conducted a drug search of the school premises.  Participating law enforcement agencies used three drug dogs to search the middle school and high school lockers and hallways, locker rooms, Band and Art room storage areas, and all of the District’s parking lots.  The search resulted in one case of marijuana found in a car in the high school parking lot.  There were no drugs found inside the building.

This drug search was part of an ongoing attempt to raise awareness of drug and alcohol use and abuse by school-aged children as well to increase the District’s efforts to keep its schools drug and alcohol free.  The district and Tomahawk Police Department are working together to plan for additional drug searches throughout the school year.
