Oneida County Medical Examiner arrested

The Oneida County Medical Examiner was put on administrative
leave following her arrest Wednesday.
Traci England of Rhinelander appeared in court yesterday on
charges of mishandling human remains. The 44 year old was arrested on
Wednesday, accused of taking a spine from a cadaver without permission
according to Oneida County District Attorney Michael Bloom.
According to the police report England took a human spine to
help train a dog to find human remains. She told another officer about the
cadaver remains which lead to her arrest, while she was traveling to
investigate a case.
Misconduct of a public official is a felony offense and
carries prison time according to the DA.
England was released from the jail on a $5,000 signature bond
and will appear in court again on January 30. She has also been suspended as
Forest County Medical Examiner, where she also serves.
