Fire burns down Freddy’s in Tomahawk

A fire at a Tomahawk restaurant yesterday left it at a total loss.

Tomahawk Firefighters were called to Freddy's Bar and Grill on Somo Avenue yesterday afternoon at just after 2:00 pm. When crews arrived on the scene the bar and dining area were totally engulfed in flames.

The fire was contained within 15 minutes, but firefighters were on the scene for 3 hours. The Nokomis fire department offered mutual aid.

The fire was discovered by the wife of the owner, who live adjacent to the restaurant. The home only suffered smoke damage.

Freddy's was closed at the time, and while the structure is still standing, the interior is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported, and the department will be investigating the cause of the fire. No foul play is suspected.

Tomahawk police directed traffic off of the road for a short time while firefighters were on the scene.
