Wednesday, January 11, 2012
Several Merrill students will be having their art
displayed at a convention in Milwaukee next week.
Elena Janowiak,
Katya Wunsch, Annie DeBroux and Sarah Lentz will each have their pieces
displayed during the 91st State Education Convention at the Frontier Airlines
Center. Their work was recognized by the Student Art Exhibit and Awards.
Interim superintendent Bruce Anderson
said, "These awards are another example of the outstanding art program
that we have in our schools, and of the high level of talent that our students
possess."
In addition to having their works
displayed at the convention, the students also received prizes of U.S. Savings
Bonds. Janowiak placed second, Wunsch
placed third, DeBroux placed sixth and Lentz placed
seventh in the competition, which featured hundreds of students from across the
state.
Anderson added that the pieces will
be prominently displayed as educators from all over Wisconsin gather for the
annual convention in Milwaukee saying, "This is a great point of pride for
our schools, students, parents and teachers."
