Man dies in Oneida
County snowmobile accident
Monday, January 4, 2010
On Friday, January 1, 2010 at 12:59 am, the Oneida
County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a 911 call reporting a crash
involving one vehicle and three snowmobiles on Highway 8 East, just west of
Haymeadow Road in the Town of Pelican.
The deceased victim in this accident has been
identified as Rick A. Fedel, a 41 year old male from Pelican Lake.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Charles
A. Worden, 76 year old male from Rhinelander. The operator of a second snowmobile was identified as James
B. Fed, 48 year old male from Port Washington and the operator of a third
snowmobile was Deborah A. Fedel, 49, from Port Washington and passenger Julie
J. Dornburg, 47 from Port Washington.
The preliminary investigation has determined that
there were six snowmobiles traveling east on the westbound shoulder of Highway
8. A westbound vehicle and the
three snowmobiles collided on the highway.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, DNR and the Oneida
County Medical Examiner Office are continuing the accident investigation.
