Fights in Lincoln County Jail lead to charges

Several inmates in Lincoln County will be facing charges following a pair of fights in the jail this past week.

The first occurred on Monday morning at just before 7:00am when a 50 year old Stevens Point man and a 55 year old Merrill man began to fight. The cause is believed to be over loud talking.

The Merrill man had to be taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment. Both men will have felony charges of battery by an inmate forwarded to the district attorney.

The second incident occurred on Wednesday, where corrections officers used phone calls and video recordings to assist with the investigation of battery. A 26 year old woman will have a battery by prisoner charges sent to the DA. Deputies say they are awaiting video evidence before proceeding with charges against the second woman. Neither woman required hospitalization.
