Tomahawk Police Department December report

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Tomahawk Police Chief Don Johnson has recently submitted his December 2011 monthly report.

Included in the report, Johnson noted that the city council approved his request for an additional sworn officer to be hired in April. This would allow the department to return to a normal sworn staffing level of seven officers. Johnson stated in the report that he would expect the officer to complete field training in late June or early July. He also recognized each of the officers for taking on extra duties and assignments during this difficult time being short staffed.

During the month officers responded to 222 calls with the most frequent being traffic crashes, medical assists and assisting other agencies. In that time officers conducted 25 traffic stops and were assigned to 37 case investigations. This included 5 burglaries and 2 assaults. The departments 2011 yearly report is expected to be completed sometime later in January.
