Learning in Retirement
Wednesday, January 18, 2012
Retirees in the Northwoods
will have the opportunity to expand their education through Nicolet College.
Nicolet has recently launched its
Winter/Spring Session for "Learning in Retirement." The session
includes more than 40 learning opportunities, described as just-for-the-fun-of-it.
There are no tests or grades in the program. Some of the topics include movie
making in Wisconsin, Astronomy, nature study, geology, opera, poetry,
literature and art. For those who enjoy the outdoors, they offer snowshoeing,
cross-country skiing, canoeing, kayaking and spring wildflower hikes.
Nicolet LIR Representative Nancy Brissee says, "Any of these offerings is a great way
for retirees to learn new things and meet new people." She went on to say
that the classes offer the opportunity to stay active and have fun.
Classes take place throughout the northwoods, from Eagle River to Rhinelander to Irma. Some
are single classes, while others meet multiple times.
Over 300 northwoods retirees have a
membership which costs only $35. For more information on Learning in
Retirement, call the office at 715-365-4491.
