Lincoln County trapper snares Timberwolf

Monday, January 23, 2012

A local trapper was surprised when he caught an unexpected animal yesterday morning.

The trapper contacted authorities after a timber wolf became caught in a foot trap in the Town of Pine River. The Lincoln County Rec Deputy and a DNR Warden responded to the area.

When they arrived, they found the wolf laying on the ground, exhausted from trying to escape the trap. The trap was described as the type which holds the animal but does not injure or incapacitate it.

The two officers were able to use animal catch poles to release the trap from a safe distance. A short while later the timber wolf got up and ran away, seemingly uninjured.
