Monday, January 23, 2012
The Wausau man convicted of killing
his mother and staging her drowning will be sentenced this afternoon.
Lincoln County Judge Glenn Hartley
will sentence Chase Boruch to life in prison at
2:30pm. Hartley must decide whether Boruch will be
eligible for release on extended supervision at some point after serving 20
years.
Boruch testified during his trial that he
found his mother dead at her house and staged her drowning to cash in on an
opportunity to collect her life insurance. A jury deliberated for 3 hours
before finding him guilty.
He wrote in a letter from jail that
he must now live with the fact that he killed his mother. He wrote, "It
may be impossible to atone for such depraved actions; I recognize that I will
always be guilty of crimes against humanity.
