Former Rhinelander officer to be sentenced

A former Rhinelander police officer, convicted of sexual assault, will be sentenced Wednesday.

Greg Derosier will appear in Oneida County this afternoon. He was found guilty of several felonies last December. Those included sexual assault and intimidating a witness. He was also found guilty on misdemeanor battery and bail jumping charges.

During the jury trial, a victim testified that DeRosier threatened her and told her she couldn't go to the police. DeRosier's attorney argued in closing arguments that the victim was angry and that was why she went to the police claiming abuse.

His sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 this afternoon where he could face up to 50 year in prison.
