Wausau man sentenced in rear ending trooper
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
A Rib Mountain man who was accused of
striking a State Trooper car, while driving intoxicated and texting was
sentenced yesterday.
Thirty seven year old Chad Kopchinski was sentenced to a six-month jail sentence and
three years of probation in the case.
He pleaded guilty last week to a 4th
drunken driving offense as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
The crash occurred last October in
Wausau, when Kopchinski rear-ended the squad car,
while it was stopped at a red light.
Also included in the sentence Kopchinski's driver's license was revoked for two years and
he must use an ignition interlock device on his vehicle. The judge warned him
that he could spend up to a year in prison if he violates his probation.
