Warm weather won’t stop Winter
activities

Dog Sled Event in Merrill
The warm weather has challenged some
winter activities scheduled for this weekend, but most will attempt to
continue.
The
custom Design Cool running Sled Dog race will now be held as WI Trailblazers
Fun Run event. Mushers are still invited to come and operate on a shortened
course. The VIP dog sled race is still planned for noon on Saturday.
The will also still have their Family Day Activities, Lucky
Dog Toss, Ottoman Race, Dog Sled Pull and Giant Plinko
Board sponsored by River Valley Bank. Those will be played beginning at 10.
The event will take place at Pine River School on Highway 64
in Merrill. The AYCE spaghetti 'n meatball Dog Sled Supper will still be served
at Lincoln Lanes in Merrill beginning at 5 where they will announce the winners
in the children's coloring contest and the cool running sled dog raffle.
Badger
State Games
Meanwhile, down it Wausau the Badger State Winter Games will
go on with only minor changes to the six events for this weekend.
This year is the first the games will be run entirely by the
Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau. The organization in
October paid $15,000 to Wisconsin Sports Development Corp. for the brand for
both the summer and winter games.
More than 1,100 athletes will participate in the Winter Games
according to the bureau.
