Merrill Family Fire Safety Day
Friday, October 7, 2011
National Fire Prevention Week begins
on Sunday and the Merrill Fire Department is kicking off the week with an open
house.
The open house is part of Family Fire Safety Day, which will
include life safety tips, demonstrations, training and information. It
will take place at the historic fire station #1 at 701 E. 1st Street in
Merrill. Those attending will get a chance to view a working fire and EMS
station along with all its equipment up close and personal.
Hands on activities will include a smoke house, extinguisher
training on live fires, fire hose spraying and a chance to try on real fire
gear. The "firepup" will be on hand
throughout the event for pictures, and food will be served during the event.
The Merrill Fire Department is committed to the safety and
well-being of all and encourage everyone to attend the
free event on Sunday from 10 to 2.
