MFD to deliver
pizzas for fire safety
Tuesday, October 11, 2011
The Merrill Fire Department will be picking up side jobs
today...as pizza delivery men.
As part of National Fire Prevention week, the Department will team
with a pair of Merrill pizza restaurants. They will deliver select pizza orders
within the city of Merrill aboard a fire truck. When the crew arrives, they
will ask residents if they can check their smoke detectors in the house. If all
detectors are working up to $30 of the order will be free.
If the smoke alarms are not working, customers will pay for their
order, and the fire fighters will replace batteries leaving the home safer.
The department will work with Ballyhoos tonight and Salvos
tomorrow, both from 4-7PM.
As part of a grant last year, they installed batteries and smoke
detectors in over 150 homes. Personnel are expected to educate nearly 1,300
students during the month of October.
The Merrill Fire
Department encourages everyone to check their smoke detectors. Be the envy of
your neighbors-win a free pizza delivered by a fire truck.
