Tiffany: Jobs top priority
Tuesday, September 27, 2011
With the State assembly returning to
session recently, they have passed several bills and representative
Tom Tiffany says they will be especially helpful to the Northwoods.
They passed a bill setting deadlines for navigable water
permits issued by the DNR. The legislation would allow the DNR to create a
streamlined process for general permits. Currently for an individual permit the
DNR can continually request more information from an applicant. Under the new
bill, the DNR must request the needed information at one time.
Tiffany said the bill is win-win. "Constituents get
answers in a timely manner and agencies have easier guidelines to follow."
Another bill would create the Community Development Financial
Institution tax credit. Under the bill taxpayers will get a deduction if they
invest at least $10,000 for five years with the CDFI. Tiffany says putting the
money in small businesses will move Wisconsin towards renewed prosperity.'
The final thing Tiffany mentioned was a revision to the Small
Business Regulatory Review Board. The board currently has 6 business members
and 9 bureaucrats. The new legislation would consist of 7 owners and no
bureaucrats. The latter two bills will help with the goal of making jobs a
priority.
