Man dies after being struck by vehicle in Gleason

A man who died after being struck by a vehicle in Lincoln County has been identified.

Fifty six year old Ralph Bell of Gleason died after sustaining injuries outside of the bowling alley in Gleason. The incident happened at just before 2:00am yesterday morning.

The driver of the truck called 911 and said he believed he struck the man, but the victim was already lying in the lane of traffic. It was not known whether another vehicle had previously hit him and left the scene.

Bell was unconscious but still breathing, he was flown from the scene to Asprius Wausau Hospital. He died approximately 4 hours later.

The accident remains under investigation. Neither alcohol nor speed are believed to be a factor in the driver, but alcohol or a medical issue may have been a factor for the pedestrian.
