Rhinelander marijuana grower sentenced
Tuesday, August 16, 2011
A
Rhinelander man charged with a sophisticated marijuana grow in his back yard
was sentenced to 9 months in the Oneida County Jail.
Fifty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Frye was
arrested last September when police found more than 100 marijuana plants in his
back yard after officers received an anonymous tip.
Oneida County Judge Mark Mangerson explained why county jail time was necessary,
"This wasn't somebody just planting a few plants to see if they could grow
some for their own use, it was a large scale,
sophisticated operation."
Fry, who reported to jail Monday
morning, will receive 3 years of probation in addition to nine months jail
time.
