Brown Barn Bath to open in Tomahawk
Wednesday, August 24, 2011
As a result
of the recent showcase, Tomahawk's Main Street will be getting a new business.
The Brown Barn Bath Company has
signed a lease to expand to Tomahawk. The business specializes in hand-made,
spa-quality bath and body products. Their goal is to help customers create a
home spa experience. There is currently a business in Holcombe.
Co-owner Chris Untiedt said, When
looking to expand we searched in many possible locations. We had read about the
Opportunity knocks event, we came down."
The Opportunity Knocks Showcase was
an open house event held August 13 by Tomahawk Main Street Inc, that coincided
with the Thrilla on the Grilla. The owners said they felt the atmosphere of the
rib cook-off and the enthusiasm of the people was a good match for the
business.
The Brown Barn Bath Company hopes to open the store prior to the
September Tomahawk Fall Ride. The store will be located at 119 West Wisconsin
Avenue.
Tomahawk Main Street recently created
an "ER Team" comprised of business professionals and economic
development stakeholders. Executive Director Liz Milender said that she has
scheduled about half a dozen meetings for prospective business owners to meet
with the ER Team. The non-profit has been actively seeking to attract
entrepreneurs and prospective business owners to the area in light of the
nearly dozen vacant properties in the district.
Milender pointed out that the
Tomahawk Main Street program offers important professional services and
resources to any start up or existing business in downtown Tomahawk.
"Our ER Team can provide resources for and guide an entrepreneur through
all aspects of starting a business, from financing options to crafting a business
plan. Once they are in start-up mode, our Main Street office can help
with a variety of needs such as helping them understand the City's sign
ordinance or offering a Bricks & Mortar grant to help with building
restorations," said Milender.
