19 year old Merrill woman dies in accident

A 19 year old Merrill woman died yesterday after her vehicle struck a tractor trailer.

The accident occurred around 2:15 at the intersection of Highway K and Park Avenue in the town of Scott.

According to witnesses, Cynthia McGee was traveling north and passing several vehicles. She struck a farm tractor, traveling the same direction, that was turning west onto Park Avenue. Her vehicle collided with the empty trailer being towed. McGee was trapped in the vehicle after the crash and extricated by the Merrill Fire Department. She was transported to Aspirus in Wausau where she later died.

The 35 year old driver of the tractor was not injured.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a reconstruction of the crash scene. This is Lincoln County's third traffic fatality this year.

McGee was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
