Lights on After School in Lincoln County
Monday, September 26, 2011
Some in Lincoln County will be
celebrating the importance of keeping the Lights on After School.
The Lincoln County After School
Network and the Afterschool Alliance will host an open house tonight.
The open house will allow those in attendance to learn more
about the before and after school programs offered in Lincoln County and the
need for these programs.
They state that 15.1 million children take care of themselves
after the school day ends. After school programs keep kids safe, help working
families and inspire learning.
Staff from each program will be available to share
information and answer questions. There will also be testimonials about the
benefits of the programs from students, parents, teachers and principals.
The Lincoln County after School Network is comprised of
before and/or after school programs at Jefferson, Kate Goodrich, Washington and
Tomahawk elementary schools, as well as OTT's Garage, Prairie River Middle
School and UW-Extension. The event takes place tonight from 5:30 to 7 at the
Kate Goodrich Elementary school in Merrill.
