As it stands Monday morning, the snowmobile trails are doing OK. We made it through last week's warm stretch, and another weekend of good riding. Most of the trails across the area are in fair to good condition.
The usual disclaimer, trails are a little thin near the communities. The riding is better as you get away from the well-traveled areas. Those 'snirty areas' (snow mixed with dirt) are growing near roads.
A bit of caution as there are an increasing number of icy spots. That is especially true in the corners, but there are icy stretches in the straights as well.
Looking ahead to this week, It seems that the forecasters are dialing back that much needed snow from their initial predictions. Now that precipitation may be mixed with ice, rain and sleet. Let's hope for more snow and less rain.
As for now, we'll hold off on predicting how the trails will come out of this stretch Monday and Tuesday.
