The Tomahawk Hatchet Girls Basketball Team lost to Athens, 68-46 on Tuesday night in non-conference action. With the loss, Tomahawk falls to 0-3 on the season.

Tomahawk will compete in the Antigo Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, playing Wausau West at 11:00 am and Saturday, taking on Wausau East at 1:00 pm.
The Hatchet Boys Hockey Team opened up their 2015-16 Great Northern Conference season on Tuesday night, skating at Antigo. The Red Robins get the win, 7-1.
Tomahawk and Antigo skated to a 1-1 tie after the first, and Antigo led 3-1 after two periods. Jacob Panzer had the lone Hatchet goal, unassisted and Danny Hanke had 46 saves.
The Hatchets will travel to Northland Pines on Tuesday, with the opening faceoff at 7:00 pm.
The Tomahawk Hatchet Football Team had their 2015 season come to an end on Friday night, with a 23-6 level two loss at St. Croix Central.
Tomahawk ends the season at 7-4.
Tomahawk hosted the WIAA Division 2 Sectional on Saturday at Edgewater Country Club. Despite the wind and the rain, 16 teams competed to earn the right to advance to Wisconsin Rapids next weekend for the State Championships.
The Tomahawk boys, led by senior Troy VanStrydonk, placed 6th overall with 180 points. Troy passed ten runners in the last mile, most of those down the final stretch to match his career best 5K effort of 17:11 and narrowly miss the final individual qualifying spot. Alex Johnson (32nd-17:51), Cayton Scholz (35th-17:53), Lucas Tjugum (46th-18:14), Justin Jarvensivu (55th-18:37), Mason Webster (63rd-18:50), and Evan Ploeckelman (64th-18:51) completed the Hatchet finishers at Edgewater. The Great Northern Conference will be well represented for the boys as Lakeland (43 pts) and Northland Pines (108 pts-first time ever qualifying a CC team for State) both advanced along with individual athletes from Medford and Antigo.
The lady Hatchets struggled as a team on Saturday, placing 14th overall. Dani Whiting finished her career with a 22nd place (21:15) effort. Kate Krueger (64th-22:44), Lauren Bauman (66th-22:46-PR), Susan Waye (72nd-22:59), Rylie Swan (82nd-23:18), Sara Kouba (93rd-23:18), and Maggee Renn (96th-24:30) paced Tomahawk. Freedom (57 pts) won the Sectional for the 2nd straight year at Tomahawk and advanced with Peshtigo (84 pts) to Rapids next weekend.
The boys finished their season with a W-100 L-21 (Pct. 826) record and the girls concluded with a W-73 L-43 (Pct. 629). After 24 straight years, this is the first time since 1992 that Tomahawk will not be represented in Cross-Country at the State level.
The Tomahawk Hatchet Girls Swimming team had four events at Friday nights WIAA Division 2 State Championships in Madison and Tomahawk finished in 15th place as a team with 50 points.
Tomahawks 200 freestyle relay team got on the podium with a 4th place finish (Morgan Weber, Shelby Benaszeski, Mihkayla Kleich, Rachel Dallman)
The Hatchets had an 11th place finish in the 400 free relay (Kleich, Katy Volz, Baylee Dallman, Rachel Dallman).
Rachel Dallman was also 12th in the 50 free and 14th in 100 freestyle
The Tomahawk Hatchet Volleyball Team had their season come to an end on Thursday, in a three games to one loss to the Merrill Bluejays in the WIAA Regional Semi Final.
Tomahawk won game one 25-21, and they Merrill won games two, three and four by 25-17 scores.
Tomahawk ends their season at 24-13-1.
